NCASA Self Defense Guidelines

The National Coalition Against Sexual Assault is a group that works to educate women on how to use self defense and other methods to prevent themselves from being assaulted or attacked by someone. The NCASA also has some information on self defense that every woman should use when looking for self defense classes. Here is a look at the NCASA self defense guidelines that shape how a self defense course should work.

The first of the NCASA self defense guidelines is that defensive strategies should be emphasized. By educating a woman on what strategies should be used the woman will be able to protect herself and keep from being harmed in the event of an attack. Having a good defense against attackers is the first step towards fending off an attack, so it is essential to know what to do in these cases.

One of the NCASA self defense guidelines that is important is that of teaching assertiveness. A woman should be assertive in that she should be able to let her attacker know that she will not take an attack without putting up a fight. This can help to lead the attacker to see that the woman is not an easy target and therefore can help to keep the attacker from going any further.

It is important for the self defense instructor to understand a woman’s concerns. The NCASA self defense guidelines state that an instructor should be able to understand and respect the concerns that the woman has. The instructor should understand about the fears of sexual assault and violence that can be prevalent in some places in society. It is best for an instructor to understand the dangers by learning from people who have survived attacks so that the person can get a better idea of how important self defense is to the woman who is looking to learn how to use it.

Another of the NCASA self defense guidelines involves the emphasis that the self defense classes for women uses. A good self defense class should emphasize intelligent decision making. This includes teaching a woman about what she should do in the event of an attack and what options she should use based on how severe the threat is.

Empowerment is one of the most essential parts of a self defense class. Using this is one of the most essential of all NCASA self defense guidelines in that through proper instruction a woman will be able to see that she can take control of the dangerous situation in a safe and competent manner. With this mindset the woman will be able to take on anything and be able to survive an attack without harm.
